about two christmas' ago, i made phillip a totally awesome Suburbs t-shirt. he used to love the Suburbs when he was a wee lad of 16 or so. i made him the t-shirt during his mini midlife crisis (yes, he was having a mini midlife crisis at 37!) in order to bring a smile to his face. he was doing a lot of research online of all the bands he listened to when he was a kid, when he stumbled upon the online version of trouser press. that just made him the happiest guy ever.
this story doesn't have much of a point except to say that he lost that wonderful Suburbs t-shirt when he moved a whole 100 feet from the building next door into the apartment we're in right now. i made him a bunch of shirts since i met him, but the Suburbs shirt was the coolest one by far. take a look for yourself. am i right or what?
and if you think i let him forget about it, you don't know me very well :)
and yeah, my hubby is a new wave guy.

he looks just like Hugo.
Fantastic! Can I ask how you made the shirt? I have a deteriorating souvenir tee from the 1993 Billy's "Grand Old Day" show which I'd love to replicate. -Nickster

i bought the plain, black shirt and designed the Suburbs logo in adobe Illustrator. then i printed it onto made-for-black-clothes iron on transfer paper and ironed it on. just that simple!
Thanks! I'll send you a copy once I scan it.
nickster-
why are you sending it to me? i'm confused...
Just thought you'd find it interesting. If you prefer, I'll keep it to myself!
no, nickster! that's cool. i thought you were going to ask me to make it for you. i'd have to tell you that i'm not in that business anymore ;)
Oh, I'd never presume that! Anyway, here's the result of the first scan, cleaned up and reduced in size. I'm going to try to get one that's a little less distorted... I'll probably have to stretch the shirt a bit.
