Minneapolis Institute of Art

Today my Mom, Sister and I went to the MIA. It was totally awesome and I loved it. We didn't get to see it all, so hopefully Phillip and I will go back on our own sometime soon. It's free and all, so why not? And I love how photos are totally allowed! When I tried taking photos at the MoMA, I got screamed at. Just another reason why I ♥ Mpls!

Here a photo of my Mom and Sister checking out the Chuck Close painting "Frank". It looks like a photograph from far away, but up close you can see it's been painted. Totally amazing. I was pretty blown away by this painting, not only because of the detail, but because of the scale.

I liked the Modern Art the best, but also the Monsters and Mayhem: Renaissance Prints. The engravings are breathtaking! The detail is like nothing I've ever seen in my life. So beautiful, and so old! Most prints were created in the 1500s! Amazing.

I hope to go back soon to see all that I missed. I love the MIA. So much better and more enjoyable than the Museum of Fine Art in Boston. I've been there at least 5 times in my life, and I'm more impressed with what I see at the MIA.

You can get the documentary called Chuck Close: A Portrait in Progress on Netflix.

Good stuff.

I *heart* Mpls, too. I'm so glad I can go to HoneyBunny whenever I'm homesick...

I am from the Twin Cities and you are making me SO homesick. I love the MIA! Did you see the period rooms? I always thought they were kind of neat.

Hey! We went to the MIA just last night! I may blog about it over lunch hour.

It is awesome. I see you have posted some of your shots as well. Nicely done!
