Lola sits next to me pretty much all day and keeps me company. Phillip joined her last night for a little while, which made me smile. My back still isn't better, although I'm thinking that it feels a little better? I can't tell, since I've upped the dose of Vicodin. I felt well enough today to clean up the kitchen. I couldn't do that three days ago, for sure. But then again, the kitchen is the smallest room in the house, so it's not like I had to work very hard or long. Anyway, I just hope I'm able to recover from this fall soon, because I don't want to rely on painkillers anymore to be able to make it through the day.
I'm still unemployed, and kind of depressed about it. Any of you out there have openings in your companies, or do you know of anyone who is hiring? I'm super smart and super talented and the best thing about me (besides the fact that I'm a hard worker) is that I learn new things super fast. That means I'm adaptable. The Temp agencies I'm working with don't seem to be helping me at all. I guess it's good I'm not paying them, right?
If anyone has any ideas for me as far as employment, please comment!
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. I'm going to take a nap.

A Side Effect of Vicodin
One of the side effects of Vicodin is "itching". Seems like I'm one of those people it happens to. Two mornings ago I woke up with scratches all over my belly. This morning (or rather, at 3am) I woke up with two scratches on my inner wrists. I put bacitracin and a band aid over them right away to stop the itching and also to prevent myself from scratching more.

Sure, I'm depressed about my back, my empty bank account, and the fact that I can't find a job. But I'm not so depressed that I want to off myself! These scratches look like I tried to slit my wrists! Not very attractive, for sure.
So now I'm not sure what I want to do. I could sleep with gloves on so I don't scratch myself up, but I'm sure I'd take them off and my hands would get all gross and sweaty. I could stop taking the vicodin, but that means I wouldn't sleep at all.
One good thing that's happened while on vicodin is that I'm actually able to breathe out my nose! It's like I don't have that polyp obstruction anymore. Of course, I can't keep taking vicodin for allergies, but it sure is a relief.
Argh! I'm so sick of this it's not even funny. Anyone else experience any itching on vocodin?

Me Circa 1979
My mom included this photo in a larger photo frame she sent me for Christmas. I totally love it. There are photos of me, my brother, and sister that I never new existed. Like this photo...I know it was taken in '79 or so, but I don't remember seeing it anywhere in my mom's house. I hope that she sends me more photos of my siblings and I when we were kids. I love old timey photos.
But can we touch on something here for a second? Check out those pants! And what's up with the Jordache shirt? I wish my feet weren't cut off so I can see what kind of monster shoes my mom put on my feets.
Aahh....good times!
In unrelated news - sort of - my back is still killing me. Since my doctor did not call me back today, I've elected to take more than the recomended dosage of Vicodin, just so I can sleep through the night. If the one-and-a-half pills do not make a difference, I'm not going to take any more. And I'm going to see if I can get my money back at the pharmacy. I don't even know if that's legal, but if I was prescribed 60 pills and I only took three, I should recoup SOME money....right?

Painkillers?
I went to my doctor yesterday because my back is just not geting any better. She gave me good news - that I didn't do any serious damage (although it feels like I broke my back) but that it will be/might be a long healing process. I left her office with a script for both Tylenol w. Codeine and Vicadin. Good, right?
I took the codeine and promptly fell asleep. I woke up two hours later feeling groggy, but not in any less pain. Six hours after that I took a vicadin, praying that it would take the pain away and let me sleep. Nope. I was up at least 5 times in the night with screaming pain in my back and leg. As a result, I didn't get up and start the day until noon.
I decided to try again. Another codeine made me drowsy. Four hours later I took a vicadin. NOTHING! No relief from this pain at all. It's almost time for another vicadin and I don't know if I can even be bothered. There's no use killing my liver if I'm not getting anything out of it, right?
I don't get why people say that vicadin is awesome. Hell, I can't even see how people can get addicted to it. It's done absolutley nothing for me and I'm pissed. So I'll have to call my doctor tomorrow to see if she can either 1) up the dose or 2) prescribe something different.
Because I cannot handle another day of this terrible pain.

What a Way to Start Out 2007
I could have written about this 5 days ago, but today has been the first day I've been able to sit and type something out all at once without too much pain.
On New Year's Eve, Phillip and I decided to stay in and watch movies. It was snowing pretty bad out and we didn't want to deal with it. After midnight, I had the grand idea to scoop Lola's poop and take it out to the trash.
Well, on my way to the dumpster, I literally took four steps, slipped in the snow, and landed smack on my lower back. My feet came right out from under me and I came crashing down on my ass. My ass is large and in charge, but it didn't cushion my fall, which disappointed me.
To make things worse, my keys went flying into the snow when I fell and I couldn't find them. So I had to try and grope for my keys in freezing cold weather. I was dumb enough to not put on a coat or gloves or anything. I mean, why should I? The dumpster is literally five feet from our door.
And I had to fall and hurt my back a mere three feet from my back door. LOVE IT!
So my back is all messed up. It's so bad that I have a hard time sitting and walking. But I'm trying to move around as much as I can because it kind of makes it feel a little better. I've been alternating hot and cold packs on my back and yesterday I went swimming in a very nice 86 degree pool. The swimming helped, but only short term.
If the pain doesn't go away by Monday, or if I'm not able to regain the use of my right leg, I'll have to see my doctor. I don't want to do this because our deductible is so high that I'll have to pay for the visit out of pocket. Lovely, huh?
So that was a wonderful way to start 2007, don'tcha think? *sigh*
