Wedding Stuff

every day i'm amazed at how calm and collected i am when it comes to thinking about the wedding. i mean, i probably should be stressed out since we're getting married 5 months and 4 weeks from today. but i think that i'm able to not stress over it because this is something i really want to do. i really want to marry phillip. i'm not always certain on a lot of things, but i am when it comes to marrying him. he's my best friend and i couldn't see myself without him.

i think i stressed out big time with my last engagement because i didn't actually want to marry the guy. he was so wrong for me on so many levels. he wanted a (gag) star wars themed wedding, and no matter how many times i said "no way!" he would persist. whenever i tried to talk to him rationally about our wedding plans, he wouldn't listen. in fact, he always had a way of literally brushing me to the side whenever i'd bring something up. that's what totally stressed me out the most. the day i broke up with him was the end of all the stress. and i couldn't be happier.

so today i decided to order these two books from amazon:

Anti-Bride Guide: Tying the Knot Outside of the Box
and

Anti-Bride Wedding Planner: Hip Tools and Tips for Getting Ahead

phillip are about as non-traditional as you can get. we have a rough idea of what we want to do for the wedding. we already have the minister and a dj. he works at a upscale grocery store, so we're going to try to get some discounts on prepared foods. we have a place in mind where we'd like to hold it. and we know who we're going to invite. and invitations will be a snap since i'm doing them myself. we are not requesting formal attire for our friends and family, since we won't be super dressed up either. we basically just want people to have a good time and celebrate our wedding with us.

we have set the date for september 4th, so i have to try and secure the venue for that day. it's labor day weekend so i don't think it should be a problem, but you never know. most people leave the city during that weekend, so i'm hoping that the people who we want to attend decide to come to the wedding and not go on a last minute vacation.

with that in mind, i should really get the invites out sooner than later :) wish me luck!

oh, i added a donation button on the sidebar. hey, why not? every little bit counts. $1 or $1,000 is fine with us :)
