Unique Invites and Cards

i want to get into making unique wedding and party invitations for couples/people like phillip and i who are so far from main stream tastes that we're almost alien.

i wonder what kind of market there is for it. i google for wedding invites and the sites that come up are littered with boring white/silver/gold invites. i have only come across a few that offer any invites with color.

i'm going to have to do more research, but i think it might work.

oh, i know all about paper source. i'm quite intimate with the store on boylston st ;)

but i'm looking to start my own biz, or at least something on the side, that offers the same type of stuff, only more personalized and funky. and cheaper than what they sell at paper source. their online store is more expansive than their actual stores, i've found. which is kind of cool, but at the same time, i'd like to be able to go to the store and buy what i've seen online. and you can't do that with a lot of the stuff :(

(they have a crossword puzzle invite among other things)

Do Google searches under:

Unique wedding invitations
Goth or Gothic Wedding Invitatons
Modern Wedding invitations
Hip Wedding invitations
Funky wedding invitations, etc.

i've already made my invites for my own wedding. i'm trying to get ideas on how i can offer cool, funky, out-of-the-ordinary invites for others and make money from it.

i've already done the google searching using those terms. that's where i got the ideas from. but many of those sites don't offer truely unique designs. they are still kind of boring and "normal", you know? the purple fairy site is one i hadn't seen (since i was concentrating on sites from the US), and they have some nice designs.

i guess what i'm trying to say is that the majority of wedding invite sites are boring and bland and i want to offer something better than what's out there. i think i can do it. the market is oversaturated with the boring, so i think i can make some $$ by doing alternative invites.

If you're thinking of moving, and have a choice, you might want to visit Texas. Housing isn't that expensive here (except around Austin). Houston: You might want to check the Montrose Area. That area would be a good place to sell your invites. Austin: Sixth Street. Also a good place for interesting and non conformist things.

Good luck!

hi nancy-
actually, my fiance and i wouldn't last an hour in texas. we can't handle the 85 degree heat we've been having in boston, so we're positive we won't be able to handle it in TX. we may eventually relocate to minneapolis since my fiance has family up that way. but probably not for a few years :)

thanks for the info though!
