Get Thee To A Record Store (as long as it's NOT sam goody)

yesterday the she wants revenge album was released. i have got to buy it, like NOW. sure, we've already got most of the stuff from iTunes, but there's nothing like having the actual CD in my hands, being able to open the plastic, take out the liner notes, and hear that familiar *snap* a new CD makes when you take it out of it's case for the first time. and the sweet, sweet smell of polycarbonate and aluminum. mmmmmmm....

so where's a good record store in the city? please don't direct me to sam goody's or tower records (although my hubby is a former employee) or virgin or any mega chain store. i like to give my money to indie places, ya know?

Electric Fetus, near the Wedge which you must go to right now. The Wedge is on Lyndale, just south of the expressway. The Fetus is on Franklin, the road between the Wedge and the barbecue place (not so good; try Dave's which is pretty good and cheaper -- Uptown Mall). Drive that way until you are almost-but-not-quite-over 35, and look to your right: the Electric Fetus. Both stores are open right now: go go go.

hey kelly-

thanks so much for the recommendation, but unfortunately, we don't have a car :( so i guess i should preface: within walking distance or a busride away ;)

Cheapo! They have good local stuff and an excellent used music selection. Sometimes the new releases are a bit spendy, but at least you're not supporting a big box store. There is one in Uptown on Lake St. just east of Hennepin.

just clicked on your flickr and founed this i love this blog!

you should go to Cheapo!!!! Not just saying that because I worked there either. They just opened a new bigger record store in the basement and they have a gigantic local music section. Electric Fetus is good too but I think Cheapo is closer to you.
