Early Memories

For some reason today, I was thinking about my earliest memories. I don't know why, but I spent a good 10 minutes daydreaming. They are pretty mundane, but here you go:

1) I remember being about 4 years old and eating an enormous box of raisins. It could have been a little box, but my memory tells me it was an enormous box. I remember my mom kept them in the crisper section of the fridge and I remember pulling out the massive drawer to get to the raisins. This might be the reason why I can't eat raisins to this day. Especially if they are in baked goods.

2) I remember laying on the living room floor with my feet up on the TV stand watching either Sesame Street or Electric Company. It doesn't really matter what was on the TV, except I remember that I couldn't watch TV unless I was lying in that exact position. I couldn't sit on the couch or the chair, I had to watch TV with my body bent in a 90 degree angle. I never claimed to be a normal child.

3) I am positive this really happened, but I could be wrong. I clearly remember being five years old and very sick when my parents left me, along with my sister, home with the babysitter. I couldn't sleep because either I had a fever or my asthma was acting up. Anyway, I was a terror for the babysitter and when my mom got home she asked me why I wasn't in bed. I told her I didn't feel well. She put me in her big bed and turned on the TV. She left to pay the babysitter and when she came back she told me I couldn't watch the movie that was on TV. I'm positive that movie was Saturday Night Fever and I wanted to watch it so bad because I saw the people dancing. I was big into dancing and dancers at 5 years old, but my mom snapped off the TV and said I wasn't old enough to watch it.
The reason I'm not sure if it really was Saturday Night Fever is because it was released in 1978 (in major theaters) and I was 5 in 1980. The Hubs tells me that movies didn't make it to TV for several years after they were in the theater 30 years ago. This could be wrong, but I have to believe him. After all, he's got 10 years on me.

4) I was four years old and remember listening to John Denver and the Muppets: A Christmas Together during Christmas breakfast with my parents, sister, and Grandparents. It was after we opened presents, but I don't remember what I got. This is one of the best early memories I have. My grandpa used to sing to us all the time, and I loved it when he sang all the Miss Piggy parts in a falsetto voice. It makes me giggle every time I think about it.

5) One bad memory though, I remember I was about 4 or 5 and I did something "bad" and my mom hit me for what seemed like hours with one of her thick, heavy AVON hairbrushes. I remember trying to run away, but she caught me and hit me. What could I possibly have done at 4 years old to deserve that? :(

What are some of your earliest memories? I'm curious to know!

Sadly, one of my earliest memories is getting dye shot up my ureters while laying in an operating room, scared to death. I remember the bright lights and being scared and they wouldn't let my mom in the room. I had chronic kidney infections and they were running tests to see what the problem was. Turns out I have an extra ureter on one kidney. A more pleasant memory was getting the Olivia Newton John album, Totally Hot, at the age of 4. I still LOVE her!
